Trash belch

In the recent 5.5 puppies, when you drag a file to the 'trash' icon on the desktop, there is a belching sound. Users have complained that this is somewhat unbecoming of Puppy.

The Trash was orignally written by Dan Van Wormer, hacked on by me, disciple, hairywill, and very recently some bugs were fixed by zephyr2 and L18L, and a tidy-up by me.

I don't know exactly when that burp/belch sound file appeared. It may have been there before but not used. At the time, I was amused, but on more sober reflection, yes, it is not appropriate (don't forget, I used to watch Hey Hey It's Saturday, so you get an idea what humour appeals to me!).

Trash is not a PET, it is builtin to Woof (though, I think that there is a PET floating around in cyberspace somewhere). I have changed the sound to two-barks. I was going to use file 'leave.wav' which says "goodbye", but decided it is better not to be English-specific.

The change will be in upcoming Service Packs.

Note, if you are running one of the 5.5 pups and want to hear that belch, do this in a terminal:

# aplay /usr/share/audio/puppy-trash.wav

Trash sound?
Would this suit for a trash sound?

Trash burp
I seldom use the trash can, so when I read this I tested dragging a file and dropping it into the trash icon on the desktop. If you guys out there want to do the same, make sure it isn't right after a meal -- your stomach will hurt of laughter literally

Silence is golden
A barking dog is equally irritating to some of us. None of these silly sounds are necessary. Fortunately, a quick symlink to an empty wav file replacing 2barks.wav and peace prevails.

Re Plucka
Ha ha, yes, that brings back memories!

If they would release the entire 20+ years of Hey Hey on blueray, I would buy it immediately, hang the cost. Whatever makes you laugh, that really is, as they say "the best medicine".
