Slow but steady progress adding to T2

I was logging progress here:
http://bkhome.org/news/?viewDetailed=00134

However, decided to start a new thread.

Some more:

guess_fs
gview
gwhere

gview home page:
http://gview.sourceforge.net/

gwhere home page:
http://www.gwhere.org/

Gwhere needed a lot of TLC to compile. Feasible as it is written in C -- if it had been written in C++ it would have been a hopeless case.

...that's because the C++ developers shift the goal posts, unlike C that basically remains the same over the years.

I wonder if anyone uses these apps? I have put gview and gwhere into all my pups, for years and years.
Gwhere is a nice concept, though I never used it myself. It kind of filled a niche, so I always put it in.

Added these:

ntp
numlockx

Forum member tasmod developed 'psync' PET, to sync time via Internet time servers, and he used the 'ntpdate' utility.
Which is in the 'ntp' package.

Psync home:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=42978

Forum member shinobar developed 'firstrun', an alternative first-startup dialog window, used in some pups.
It requires the 'numlockx' utility.

That's it, I think the letter n is done!

Have added these:

nenscript
netpbm
network_tray
notecase

These are new in T2, except netpbm which was already there, but needed a patch.

notecase home:
http://notecase.sourceforge.net/index1.html

...the author would very much like people to move onto his non-free version, however I find 1.9.8, the last of the open-source free versions, to be very good. I use it regularly, to keep notes about compiling packages.

Version 1.9.8 needs patches to compile, which will be in T2.

gxmessage, gnet   Posted on 19 Dec 2014, 19:39 by admin
Two more:

gxmessage
gnet

gnet is a library needed by 'surfer', also known as 'helpsurfer', a tiny web browser used in many pups, including Quirky, to view local html files.

Pup developers probably would not have encountered gnet, as I previously included it in the 'helpsurfer' PET.

libsystem, helpsurfer   Posted on 19 Dec 2014, 20:59 by admin
Have added these:

libsystem
helpsurfer

libsystem is needed by helpsurfer (also gnet).

helpsurfer is a hacked very early version of Surfer, see home page:
http://www.defora.org/os/project/340/Surfer

My hacked version is to use specifically as an local html file viewer.

And:

hiawatha

secure tiny web server, used in the puplets for years.

This one took me a few hours, and help from Rene, the T2 maintainer:

hardinfo

basic utilities added   Posted on 20 Dec 2014, 9:09 by admin
I have added these:

hotplug2stdout
ifplugd_old
installwatch

There is a bit of a story with each of these.

Anyway, I need a break. installwatch took a couple of hours, needed patches, but got there.
